Georges COULOMB was born in Port-de-Bouc in France where he still lives. A self-taught artist, he first tried his hand at sculpture, then started painting in 1970. He has been a professional painter since 1988. Often compared to Matisse and Picasso, COULOMB remains modest about his talent. Painting for the joy of it, COULOMB's paintings exude the mood in which they were conceived. A celebration of color, form, and composition, every painting by COULOMB finds resonance on a visual frequency closely aligned with the sense of pleasure. Thick impasto and generous gesture provide the viewer with a kaleidoscope of emotion, both visceral and visual, but always culminating in a spirit of joy.
