Nestled in a pine tree forest sloping down to the ocean in Central California lies the picture-postcard town of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Established in the early 20th century as an artist's colony, this storybook hamlet remains to this day a haven for creative artists of all brands. The serene beauty of it's location, largely still unspoiled by development, has been attracting both bohemian and aristocratic residents and tourists to it's tree-lined streets for over one hundred years.

Today, the one-square-mile central commercial district is home to more than eighty art galleries drawing collectors from the world-over to explore the vast selection of primarily traditional artwork. Over the past decade or so, a small number of more daring and forward-minded galleries and art dealers have established themselves in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Edward Montgomery Waznis, owner and director of Edward Montgomery Fine Art, was among the first.

In 1993, with narrow approval of the Carmel Planning Commission, Edward Montgomery Fine Art opened it's first Carmel location in the very back of a hidden courtyard on Lincoln St, at the far edge of the commercial district. Over the past fifteen years we have moved five times, each time to a more visible,comfortable, and esthetically pleasing environment.

As of January 1, 2008, Edward Montgomery Fine Art enjoys the privilege of being located on the block of Dolores Street known as “Gallery Row”, right in the heart of the village. This showcase space allows us the luxury to spotlight two or three of our artists at a time in a sophisticated yet casual venue. Our Dolores Street location offers an open, light filled, setting in which the work of our artists can be appreciated to their fullest.
